guide provides the basic installation steps for the use of the

AMI MUSIK DS5. Read this before you use the unit for the first

time.

While unpacking the AMI MUSIK DS5, confirm that the follow-

System requirement

(1) Operating system

WDM Kernel Streaming, WASAPI, Direct Sound Dedicated

drivers for:

• Microsoft Windows® XP incl. SP3

• Microsoft Windows® Vista (32/64 bit incl. SP2)

• Microsoft Windows® 7 (32/64bit)

• Microsoft Windows® 8 (32/64 bit)

• No driver needed for Apple Mac OS X (10.6 + or later)

• No driver needed for Linux with UAC2 compliant kernel

Setting up

Step 1 - Driver installation

※ For Windows users, you need to first install the driver and

then connect the device with your PC.

1) Microsoft Windows PC (XP, Vista, 7 & 8)

Windows PCs need a driver installation in order to playback music

using an asynchronous USB Audio Class 2(UAC2) device. This

driver is supplied in the driver installation CD. Open the explorer

and click on the icon of your CD/DVD drive. Double click

setup_(ami_ds5_v1.0.57).exe.

You can find detailed information on Windows system setup for

the AMI MUSIK DS5 in the folder “Manuals” within the driver in-

stallation CD.

Setup will require that you connect the device with your computer

once the driver is installed.

(2) Apple Mac OSX 10.6.4 or higher, Linux Kernel 2.6.37 or

higher

The OS embedded UAC2 driver is installed automatically when

the AMI MUSIK DS5 is connected. No third party driver installation

is needed. Simply connect your AMI MUSIK DS5 to a free USB port

on your Apple Mac or Linux computer using the USB cable sup-

plied.

You can find detailed information on Mac OS system setup for the

AMI MUSIK DS5 in the folder “Manuals” within the driver instal-

lation CD.

Step 2 - Power on

Connect the supplied 5V DC adaptor power supply to the AMI

MUSIK DS5 and connect to your PC using the supplied USB cable.

Push the volume button for approximately 1 seconds. The LED in-

dicators at the front panel will illuminate for unit initialization. After

initialization, the AMI MUSIK DS5 will be ready for use. The quad

level LED indicators will first show the current volume setting and

then, the current sample rate.

Controls and functions

(1) Front panel

① Volume knob & Power button

• Volume control: Turn the volume knob for controlling the

volume (up to 56 levels)

※ When turning the volume knob, the LED will instantly show

the volume level (approximately 7 levels are represented

by 1 LED)

※ When in fixed mode, the line out volume is set to “fixed”.

The volume knob would not control the volume of the line

ut, but would continue to control the volume of the head-

phone out.

On/Off power button: Push the volume knob for approxi-

mately 1 second for power on/off
